For our soccer tutorial this week, I’m going to show you a drill that I use all the time to get warmed up for games. It helps you with your ball control, your dribbling, and helps you develop your confidence keeping the ball close to your body. This drill is called Roll Down Outside.
To do Roll Down Outside, start with your foot on top of the ball. Roll your foot down the outside of the ball. As your foot gets down towards the outside of the ball, push the ball gently across your body. Catch the ball with the sole of your other foot and repeat the same motion with your other foot.
Continue moving the ball back and forth across your body by alternating feet in this motion. As you get more comfortable with this movement, push yourself to go faster. If you ever go so fast that you start to lose control of the ball, slow yourself back down to the point where you can keep control of the ball.
Push yourself!
