One problem that soccer players seem to have when working on their ball control, specifically with their turns, is losing control of the ball after multiple turns. They make the first couple turns correctly, then as they continue to make turns, the ball gets further and further away from them because they don’t have the body control to adjust.

A couple weeks ago, I posted a drill called the serpent slalom that was designed to help players keep control of the ball while making cuts with the ball. This drill is a variation of that one, but while that drill focused on several quick cuts and a shot on goal, this drill focuses more on keeping control of the ball over multiple different cuts.

This individual dribbling drill forces the player to make multiple cuts without letting the ball get away from them. It makes the develop their body control by forcing them to get all the way outside the ball to make good cuts.

If they make sloppy cuts with the inside out the outside of their feet, the ball will get away from them, and they won’t be able to complete the sequence.
