It’s a feeling we’ve all had in the past. The moment where you feel like you have nothing else to give. It feels like every ounce of energy is gone. Every fiber of who you are is screaming for you to stop, to rest. Your mind rebels – “You’ve done enough,” it says. “You have nothing more to give.”
This is the moment. Everything hinges on what you do here.
Whether you’re in a game, lifting weights, following a diet, or running, the choice you make in this moment will define you. Your mind doesn’t want you know know it, but you do have a choice. Yo do have more inside you than what you’re giving. It goes beyond thinking, beyond conscious thought, to a simple choice – keep pushing or give up.
Remember, everything you do, every choice you make, is more than just a choice. It’s you training your brain in what is acceptable and what is not. If you quit now, you are teaching your brain that when things get hard, it’s ok to stop. It’s ok to take the easy way out. When you do this, it’s going to be even harder the next time things get hard to choose not to quit.
Your choice will define who you are.
So how do you make the choice to keep going when almost everything you are is begging you to stop? You define yourself. Don’t wait until you’re on the field, on the trail, or in the gym. Define yourself now. When you ask yourself what you’re about from here on out, the answer is simple –
“I NEVER QUIT”
Every time something gets difficult, remind yourself – “I NEVER QUIT.” Tired and sore and don’t want to do that last set at the gym? “I NEVER QUIT.” Don’t want to run the full distance on your fitness run today? “I NEVER QUIT.” Tired in your soccer game and don’t want to hustle back on defense? “I NEVER QUIT.”
Make it who you are, and you’ll find that voice in your mind yelling for you to stop is drowned out by the voice yelling “I…NEVER…QUIT!” That voice is what truly makes a champion, and I’ll let you in on a little secret – the players on the other team will see that you have it, and that makes them afraid to play you.
It’s hard to beat someone who never quits.
