Everyone has a dream. Some people want to be rich and famous. Some want to be great athletes. Some just want to live a lifestyle they enjoy. The great thing about the world we live in now is that you actually have the opportunity to pursue your dreams more than any other time in history.
So, when we talk about our dreams and what we want to achieve, it comes down to a simple question –
What’s stopping you?
Unfortunately, the answer for most people is simple – YOU are stopping you. You want to be successful, but you don’t want it BAD. You kind of want to be successful. You want to be successful as long as you don’t have to sacrifice for it. As motivational speaker Eric Thomas says, “You don’t want to be successful as much as you want to sleep.”
The thing about success in anything, be it soccer, fitness, or life, is that gaining success is difficult. It’s a great thing, but in order to get it, you have to work hard. You have to delay comfort at the moment in order to grow. Most people think that failure is something that comes from external forces. Occasionally, this is true, but most of the time, people fail because they stop themselves before anyone else even has a chance to.
So how do you get past your own resistance to achieve your goals? It’s simple (and yet incredibly difficult). You must make your goal a priority. Make it the central part of your life. Write it down, tape it to the wall. Set reminders on your calendar. Everywhere you go, remind yourself what you’re working towards. Write yourself a letter reminding yourself why the reward of all your sacrifice is worth it. Read it when you feel like quitting. Provide your own motivation.
Above all, NEVER QUIT. Suffer a setback? Hit it harder tomorrow. Miss a workout? Don’t miss the next one. Don’t allow one step backwards to derail your whole journey.
NEVER QUIT
Get out of your own way.
Your only limit is you.
