Attacking the goal in a soccer game can be a very dynamic exercise. Players need to be able to quickly switch between fast dribbling, quick controlled dribbling, quick cuts, and shooting.

This drill puts all of those things together into a single dribbling drill. Set up 8 cones in a line 2-3 feet apart depending on your skill level near the edge of the 18 yard box. Start with the ball on the end line. Dribble out to the line of cones and quickly dribble through them. One tactic that helps you control the ball when going into the cones from the dribble is to make your first touch a touch with the sole of your foot. This will take the momentum out of the ball and allow you to control it through the cones.

When you get to the line of cones, leave the ball and sprint back to the beginning of the line of cones, touch the ground, then sprint back to the ball. Dribble the ball back through the cones and have a shot on goal.

This drill simulates dribbling in the open field, then getting into a group of defenders and having to keep the ball tight to your body. The sprint in the middle simulates making a quick run to get open, then you have to control the ball and have a shot on goal.
