This week’s soccer tutorial will teach you how to do the triangle push pull ball control drill.

This drill will help you develop your ball retention by forcing your to constantly control the ball with both feet. It’s a great drill for working on keeping the ball close to your body while you dribble.

Start off with the ball at your feet with your feet shoulder width apart. Push the ball out at a 45 degree angle with the side of one foot. Reach out and catch the ball with the sole of your other foot. Pull the ball back in and push the ball across your body to the foot you started with. This should have formed a triangle shaped motion with the ball, hence the name triangle push pulls.

Start off doing 10 reps in one direction, the switch and move the ball in the opposite direction. As you develop, practice quickly changing the direction you’re moving the ball. This will force your body to quickly change between using your right foot and your left foot.
